Spring arrived today at 4:37 CDT! The sun will shine today. God is good and He blesses us with His grace and love. His mercies are new today. He gives us strength for today along with His own presence to cheer and to guide. After all, this is a day the Lord has made, let’s rejoice and be glad in it.
Iran across a man by the name of Frank Laubach years ago in my readings about prayer. He was a man of prayer whose heart desire was to “pray without ceasing”[1 Thessalonians 5:17]. One of the ways Laubach met this challenge was to pray for the people he encountered during the day. He did not stop them and ask them if he could pray for them, but he simply prayed a blessing on them while he walked by. In today’s message I remind myself and those listening to intentionally bless at least 5 people every day. What a difference this would make in our world today! What a great way to live the 8th Commandment!
A prayer of blessing isn’t just something for pastors to pronounce over the congregations at the end of services. As children of God, we have the right and responsibility to pronounce blessings over people in our lives – from our children to our colleagues to those in our neighborhood, and everyone in between.
